CYPRUS CHAMPIONSHIP 2004-05

Game 1 vs Apollon

(12th November 2005) THE 23rd TITLE FOR THE WOMEN'S TEAM IS IN FACT A REALITY. They won the 2005 CYPRUS SUPER CUP. This was the 7th CONSECUTIVE SUPER CUP TITLE for the team. aPOLLON tried their BEST, BUT KERAVNOS WAS TOO STRONG AND more experience than THEM. THE FINAL SCORE 118-29.

This was the first official game of the season and the team showed that they are ready for the difficult road in defending the three titles they won last year. They have won the first one and they will concentrate now on the other two.

It is very hard to criticize such a game when there is such a big difference between the two teams. KERAVNOS is an experience team with players in the national team and arguably the best team in Cyprus the last decade. The results and the titles this team has won is their proof of how good they are. Apollon on the other hand is a young team and tried to play with passion but they could not follow KERAVNOS in any point in the game.

Coach Yiannaras, had the chance to use all the available members of the team which they showed some very good basketball skills. M.V.P of the game was voted Despina Panayi.

Anca Stoenescu had a very good night and scored 37 points in total. Yiota Adamou with 15 points, Georgia Konstantinou with 14 points, the team captain Stalo Phedonos with 12 points and Monica Selipa with 11 points also had a very good game. We feel the need to congratulate Georgia Nikolaou, Julia Stylianidou and the youngest member of the team Eleni Gabriel for helping the team reached its 23rd title.
