Links to
Real
Moms with Real Children. (and two dads too)
The following are pages I either used while running my program or pages I wish I had read
when I was still in the research phase of figuring out a “plan”.
All the ABA links I could need and
more. He caught my attention because he
used “Hyperlexia” in the title and my search engine picked it up. Otherwise,
most pages out there dealing with
Hyperlexia don’t encourage ABA for some reason- I am glad I found
This page.
Kathy Harris and Calvin.-
Beautiful information on ABA.- I actually cheated and used
her page sometimes to train my tutors on basic
ABA terms and how to do a functional
analysis of behavior. She is a well informed, intelligent
mom. She is also President
of
FEAT of OR-way more energy than I will ever have. J
Bradley Murphey’s Mom-
more information on ABA and her struggle to get services which
she never received from her school
district. This is a good example of how
hard it can get
for
parents to dare to request PROVEN , EFFECTIVE, autism treatment
and how.. no
matter
how much progress your child shows, a district can refuse it- and is willing to
spend
money
in order to deny an appropriate education.
Juliet Burk- A picture really is worth a thousand
words. Thank you Juliet for being so
brave.- you
must have quicktime to view movie. Tons of video and specific VB/ABA
information and ideas.
About
their journey with their 4 year old daughter and the progress she made in ABA
and their acceptance that
“indistinguishable” would not happen.
ABA is still central in their story of helping
their daughter.
A Main Family’s Early
Intervention Program
This
is a nice webpage that explains a little about ABA, what one family did, and
where they ended up.
Especially
beautiful is the essay “A Turning Point”.
Other
families who have used ABA
Good Sites on Applied Behavior Analysis
I
specifically like his lecture “on having a poem”
Christinia Burk’s Site- a behavioral consultant
Dr. Carbone- a verbal behavior consultant
Dr. Ivar Lovaas- Behaviorist and pioneered using ABA in the treatment of autism.
Clarifications on the the works of Ivar
Lovaas- Lovaas responds to some
common myths
and
misrepresentations (aka lies) about his work.
