First Year ABA Schedule:

Age of child 4.5 to 5 years of age.

Number of Therapists:   4 therapists.

Number of hours:  40 hour weekly schedule  Monday- occasional Saturdays.

Included in the 40hours schedule:   12.5 hours of preschool with a shadow from our program  (two of our tutors shadowed), 2-4 hours of community outings, 5 hours of play dates or playground or “lets search the park for a group of kids” type stuff.

Towards the end of the preschool school year, the shadows were pulling back and he attended several days by himself.  He had a very supportive preschool teacher.

 

Summer before Kindergarten

Age of Child:  5.5 years.

Number of therapists:  4 therapists

Number of hours:   40hrs  Monday- Friday   to include 6 hours of play group, library story hour at two different libraries,  5 hours of community trips.

 

Kindergarten  August 2000-December 2000

Age of child :  6 years

Number of Therapists : 5

Number of hours:   32 hours of kindergarten with a shadow  L 7 hours of afterschool ABA plus 3 hours of community trips looking for kids to play with, etc.

 

 

Kindergarten  January- May 2001

Age of Child  : 6.5 years.

Number of hours : 50 hours.

Number of therapists: 5

We pulled our child from his “hellish” kindergarten class with an unsupportive teacher and an unsupportive principal.   He was now homeschooled.  The 50hrs included 6 hours  week of supervised play dates,  2 hours a week of Garden Club,

3 hours of Italian School with shadow,  2 hours of Sunday School without shadow,

1 hour of junior choir without shadow, 1 hour a week of soccer with shadow, 6-8 hours of community outings, and the rest were ABA sessions done throughout the house. We had wonderful improvements during this time.

 

May 2001-August 2001

Age of Child: 6.5 years

Number of Therapists:  2 therapists

Activities included:  zoo camp,  art camp, story/craft time at the library 2 hours a week, 5 hours of community outings, Bible school,  5-7 hrs of play dates when we could get them, and 1:1 aba done throughout the house, community, etc.

 

August 2001

Age of child almost 7

Number of therapists: 2

32 hrs a week with a shadow in a 1st grade teacher who WAS VERY VERY VERY SUPPORTIVE.  The shadow immediately began fading because this was such a WONDERFUL teacher, 1 hr week of swim lessons,  3 hrs of Italian School, and about 5 hours of ABA, and 5 hrs of play dates.

 

September 2001-May 2002:

 

Age of child: 7 years.

Number of Therapists 2 (we added a third MALE therapist in Feb-May)

He was attending first grade shadowless for 32 hrs per week! Hooray!!!

3 hours of Italian School with Shadow (who was there more for observation to look at social skills we needed to work on)

1 hr of swim lessons with a shadow spying J  She happened to be a swim instructor so we enrolled him in her class.

5 hours a week of “guy things” with the male tutor to include extreme sports, rock climbing, kite flying, tree climbing.

6 hours a week of ABA.

Any peer interaction we could get  (varied from 5-10hrs a week)

 

June 2002

No ABA.   Just mom.  Number of therapists: 0

Activities: art camp , zoo camp, and a HUGE family vacation, bible school.

He plays with kids in the neighbourhood when they are out,  I occasionally call one buddy from his first grade for a play date.

 

Plan for fall 2002:

 

Second grade- no shadow.

Swim lessons- no shadow.

Italian School-  no shadow

Try and foster more peer relationships by inviting peers over.
